DONE with school!

April 23, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I am DONE with school! Yay! I just took my last final. Managed to get the latest grade of gotten on a test through my entire vet tech degree (at least that I can remember), but at least I’m done. No more classes, no more homework. Just an internship, which sounds like a cakewalk after my crazy semester. To celebrate, I will be eating some bread I made and then going to bed.

Three-quarters done with finals

April 20, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I finished lab finals last Friday and took two lecture finals tonight (online). I have two lecture finals left to take – one by Wednesday night and one by Thursday night – and then I am DONE with school. Forever. (At least until I go back to finish my BS degree.) No homework, no going to classes, no writing papers, no reading assignments. I’m very anxious to be done.

In other news, my sister and niece are here visiting from halfway across the country. My niece is adorable and such a little sweetheart. She’s a happy, smiley, friendly baby and so much fun. Tomorrow we’re going to go see some baby goats!

Home Stretch

April 14, 2009 · Leave a Comment

This week is my last week of classes! I have a final on Thursday and one on Friday. At the beginning of next week I have four (!) lecture finals and then I’ll be done. There was no class last Friday, so it kind of feels like I’m already done with school. I still have a paper to write, though, and some homework due this week so I can’t quit just yet. But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m anxious to be done and to be able to put more time into stuff that isn’t school (like my balcony garden). I still have my internship to complete, but that shouldn’t be too difficult – that’s just 12 weeks of “work” with little or no homework. It’ll be a cakewalk :p

The End is in Sight

March 28, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I think. Some days. Maybe. I only have three weeks of classes left (yay!), but it sure seems longer. This semester was going fairly well until this week and this week it all seems to have gone downhill. Work has been crazy the past two weeks, I haven’t gotten enough sleep, I have lots of homework (as always), and there’s some family stuff going on that’s adding stress. Ugh. But today at work I did the April schedule and it made me happy to see that in a few short weeks, I would be ALL DONE with school. Not only does that mean no classes, but it means NO HOMEWORK. I can’t tell you how excited that makes me. And after three weeks of no homework or classes, I’ll be back here saying I miss school…

First Overnight Shift

March 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I’m getting ready for my first overnight shift at my newest job (the large animal one). I had school all day today, then I came home and napped – with multiple interruptions – for about four hours. It’ll be interesting… I also have another overnight shift next week and will have more in April. Hubby is excited, since he works overnights. He’s anxious to have me on overnights like he is (and I keep wishing/hoping/praying that he’ll get on a day shift). The dog is probably not so excited and is already confused because I spent the evening sleeping. She does not have a good track record of doing well when left alone at night. I may come home to some messes in the morning… I’m planning to take her out for a quick walk before I leave.

Just Finished Mid-Terms

March 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I just finished Mid-Terms on Sunday. I’m glad they’re done! I didn’t do as well as I wanted to on some of my test, but I don’t think I got lower than a “B” on any test, so I guess I can’t complain much (especially for how little time I spent studying…I’m not good at making myself study).

I’ve been keeping busy with school, work, work, work, and trying to see my husband occasionally. I also try to exercise the dog sometimes. She gets antsy and annoying if I don’t exercise her enough (not that I blame her). Spring Break is next week (not for me), so work will be extra-busy.

What’s going on in your world?

Snow, snow, snow

February 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

We have lots of snow here. Driving from work to school tonight took about four times longer than it should have. Some roads randomly had giant piles of snow in the middle of them and most of the rest had at least a few inches of snow on them. It was a fun drive. The drive home after work was equally fun. I have some pictures of the snow, but they’re still on the camera and I need to go get some sleep before school tomorrow, so you’ll have to wait to see them. Perhaps I’ll get some up this weekend – I actually have two days off in a row!

Edit: I’m sure we got over six inches of snow here, but I don’t have an exact number.

The New Job

February 25, 2009 · Leave a Comment

A long while back, I noted that I had a new job and more information would be forthcoming. You’ve probably noticed that the information did not appear. That’s because I haven’t had the time to blog much lately. Between my three jobs and my classes, I’m not left with a whole lot of free time. Only eight more weeks, though, and I will be DONE with school.

Anyway, my not-quite-so-new job is working at a large animal hospital where I also get the opportunity to do some teaching. It’s a perfect job for me. I enjoy working with large animals so much more than small animals. While I’m at school, working on dogs and cats, I sometimes wonder why I’m going to school for vet tech. One night, I was at my large animal job, working on some critter (a calf, perhaps?) and remembered why I was going to tech school – because I love working with large animals. I’m excited about it, passionate about it, and want to share that knowledge and excitement with other people. I can do that at this job! Plus, sometimes I even get to work on goats. It doesn’t get much better than that.
